Cathrine Dufour of Denmark won the first leg of nine for the Western European League of FEI Dressage World Cup™ competition at Herning on Saturday, thrilling the home crowd with a score of 87.115% in the Grand Prix Freestyle.
Partnering with Atterupgaards Cassidy, her 18-year-old Danish Warmblood “best friend” who has been with her since junior championship days, Dufour also won the new Short Grand Prix test on Friday at the Worldcup Herning horse show.
Isabell Werth of Germany and Weihegold OLD won Leg 2 of FEI Dressage World Cup™ action for the Western European League on Friday at Lyon, after scoring 84.910 percent in the Grand Prix Freestyle.
Helen Langehanenberg claimed maximum points for victory at the third leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2021/2022 Western European League in Madrid, Spain this evening.
Partnering the 13-year-old mare Annabelle with which she won European team gold this summer, the German athlete pinned Spanish stars Beatriz Ferrer-Salat riding Elegance and Juan Matute Guimon and Quantico into second and third places with a brilliant last-to-go performance that produced the only over-80-percent score of the day.

It was Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl at the top of the podium again this weekend, as FEI Dressage World Cup™ competition resumed with Leg 5 at Neumünster, Germany.
Jessica won the top honours in both the Grand Prix Freestyle and Short Grand Prix aboard TSF Dalera BB, with scores of 90.615 and 84.395 percent, respectively.
The Danish Cathrine Dufour finished in second place with Vamos Amigos, after earning 86.725 percent from the five judges.
Nanna Skodborg Merrald took third place, partnered with Atterupgaards Orthilia. Their score of 84.480 percent was a personal best that pushed the defending World Cup champion, Isabell Werth of Germany, off the podium and into fifth place on Sunday.

Charlotte Dujardin of Great Britain won Leg 4 in FEI Dressage World Cup™ action at the London International Horse Show on Friday, earning a Grand Prix Freestyle personal best of 89.040 percent with the diminutive Dutch Warmblood Gio.
Dujardin’s victory was tinged with sadness, as it was her final ride with the 10-year-old gelding, who has been sold to Sarah Pidgley, whose daughter Annabella will take over the ride.

Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB took first place at Leg 6 of 6 in FEI Dressage World Cup™ competition at s-Hertogenbosch on Saturday.
Von Bredow-Werndl – who announced earlier this week that she is pregnant with her second child – scored above 90 percent in the Grand Prix Freestyle, after also taking the top honours in the Short Grand Prix on Friday.
Defending FEI Dressage World Cup™ champion and Von Bredow-Werndl’s compatriot Isabell Werth went home with the silver this weekend with her young mount DSP Quantaz. Joining the two German ladies on the podium was Patrik Kittel of Sweden, who turned in a stellar test aboard his newer partner Forever Young HRH for third place.
